British Isles

These strains can be traced back to Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Great in British-style Ales, Irish-style Ales and Scottish-style ales, but are really nice in American beers as well.

JY028 - UK Ale I (“Anglo Saxon Ale”)
JY028 is a wonderful English ale yeast that works great for English and American ales. Originating from the English Midlands, this strain works great for beers that are hoppy. The yeast is slightly fruity, and underlines the minerally/sulfate character of IPAs. It can ferment cooler and is good for higher ABV beers. Reported to have a broad attenuation range, depending on pitching conditions.

Origin: Midlands, UK
Temperature Range: 60-73°F (16-23°C)
Flocculation: ++
Attenuation: 63-78%
Alcohol Tolerance:10-11%

JY037 - UK Ale II
True-to-style yeast for the perfect Bitter, ESB, Mild, Strong Ale, Pale, Porter, Stout, Barleywine, IPA, etc. etc. Flocculates very well and will leave your beer clean. Attenuation is medium for a little bit of body/mouthfeel after fermentation has completed.

Origin: UK Brewery
Temperature Range: 55-70°F (14-21°C)
Flocculation: ++
Attenuation: 73-82%
Alcohol Tolerance:11%

JY038 - Irish Ale I
Yeast that does not need a real introduction. Crisp, can leave a slight note of diacetyl after fermentation has completed. A little fruity when fermented warmer. From the biggest stout producer world-wide.

Origin: Dublin, Ireland
Temperature Range: 65-70°F (18-21°C)
Flocculation: ++(+)
Attenuation: 68-74%
Alcohol Tolerance:11%

JY137 - UK Ale III (“British and Malty”)
As the name says, this yeast leans itself for malt-driven beers. Not a very attenuative strain, leaving plenty of body behind. Finishing over 1.020 (4 °P) is not unusual, resulting in very smooth ales that are velvety and polished. A very robust yeast, growing in large numbers and can withstand underpitching without real issues. True top-cropping yeast. An original source for hazy IPAs

Origin: Northamptonshire, UK
Temperature Range: 68-75°F (18-24°C)
Flocculation: ++(+)
Attenuation: 70-75%
Alcohol Tolerance:10%

JY160 - UK Ale IX
Very aggressive and attenuative yeast, well suited for higher gravity ales and beers that you want to attenuate deep. Flocculates well and turns over beers fast. Great for American styles as well, used by one of the largest IPA brewers in the world as a dependable house strain.

Origin: London, UK
Temperature Range: 68-75°F (18-24°C)
Flocculation: +++
Attenuation: 70-78%
Alcohol Tolerance:12%

JY228 - Scottish Ale I
Scottish ale yeast that is famous for its extremely mild and timid character. When fermented cold, this yeast will produce almost no esters or phenols, and will let the malt character of your beers come through. Attenuates not super deep, so when there is a high final gravity, do not panic. When used warmer, a little more estery. Great house yeast for the brewer that wants a dependable yeast that will produce beers with low yeast character.

Origin: Scotland, UK
Temperature Range: 55-75°F (13-24°C)
Flocculation: +++
Attenuation: 68-74%
Alcohol Tolerance:12%
